Come Peer Your Mind and Thoughts to the « Reboot cmNOG » Session During CAMIX Training

 

The CAMIX Training for the Cameroonian network operators is taking place today, 03.04.2017, until on friday april 07, 2017 at the Merina Hotel in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The organiser is ISOC Cameroonian Chapter…

The attendees are already known, because the technical training is particularly focusing on how to practically peer inside the CAMIX, our local Internet eXchange Point. And the sitting places are just few in the room of the event.

Meanwhile, there is a good news, because of the cmNOG rebooting process [1] actually on stage, there will be a free and open session where volunteers, network practioners and passionates about Internet and Network Engineering are invited to peer their minds and thoughts on the topic and to learn more about how to help the « Reboot cmNOG » initiave [2] and how to gain from a succesful cmNOG.

At that session, we will have two presentations, one by Jan the founder of the successful SiNOG [3] and the other by Sylvain, cmNOG co-founder. At last we will have an open discussion about the future of the cmNOG’s Community.

 To attend the cmNOG session, on tuesday, 04.04.2017 (02:00 – 06:00 PM, local time), just inform me [5] copying Janvier the ISOC.cm President [6], prior for us to add more sitting places in the room.

 For those who are volunteers to host a probe in their network and help a global Internet Measurement project, note that we have five RIPE Atlas probes for you. Come and take yours. Célébration Décalée Journée du Logiciel Libre 2015 au CMR

  Depuis plusieurs années, des célébrations de la JLL ou SFD [1], sont organisées au Cameroun, plus souvent par ProtègeQV et Ubuntu-CM à Yaoundé, et quelques autres groupes à Douala et Ngaoundéré. Seulement, il n’a jamais été vu, au jour d’aujourd’hui, une célébration unifiée autour de l’ensemble des communautés du libre au Cameroun. Cette année 2015, les choses commencent à bouger dans ce sens et c’est plutôt bien pour le mouvement du libre au Cameroun; au moment où la mort de l’AC3L [2] semble désormais pratiquement effective. Comme quoi, le phœnix du libre peut encore renaître de ses cendres…

 Après la célébration mondiale du 19 septembre 2015, organisée au Cameroun par Protège QV, avec l’appui du MINPOSTEL, il est prévu une autre célébration de la Journée du Logiciel Libre, au Cameroun [3]. Celle-ci se tiendra en date du mercredi 23 septembre 2015, au CNF  de Yaoundé/ Ngoa-Ekellé/AUF-BACGL [4].

 La journée du logiciel libre est une initiative mondiale d’expansion ou de vulgarisation des applications issues des communautés de développeurs libres, partageant une pensée libre [Free, Open Source, FOSS ou GNU]. Au Cameroun, la Communauté Ubuntu-cm, s’ouvre à d’autres associations partenaires dans une démarche d’unification de cette célébration. Ce sera l’opportunité, pour chacune des Organisations partenaires, de montrer comment les activités quotidiennes concourent/contribuent à la promotion du logiciel libre au Cameroun.

 L’objectif Global de l’événement local est de : « Montrer la place du Logiciel Libre dans la vie courante, à travers plusieurs types d’activités ».

 Ces activités seront conduites par chacun des partenaires de l’évent et se déclinent autour des entrées de l’Agenda du jour [5].  Le cmNOG en profitera pour parler, un peu, du déploiement du Programme RIPE ATLAS [6] au Cameroun.

 Cet événement pourra donner un coup de balai autour des initiatives locales d’adoption du logiciel libre, comme solution au développement économique durable. L’enviable expérience de l’AUF [7], sur l’utilisation des logiciels libres saura certainement édifier plus d’un. Pour ceux que ça intéresse, il faudra préparer un disque dur de 250 Go pour emporter une copie du miroir local de logiciel et systèmes GNU qui s’y trouve. 

 Tous ceux qui veulent en savoir plus, sont conviés [8] à cet événement fédérateurs autour du logiciel libre.
